Project Description

The University Botanical Gardens

Originally used as a medical resource, the current University Botanical Gardens were laid out and inaugurated in 1787 following a gift of land by King  Gustav III who celebrated the occasion by firing 128 cannons. Nowadays they are far more peaceful and will be a delight for botanists, due to the many different species on display: summer flowers, alpine plants and trees and shrubs from all around the world.  In the summer it gets a little louder as concerts are held here, featuring many top international artists
